Seeds to Supper

Seed to Supper is a comprehensive 6-week beginning gardening course that gives novice adult gardeners the tools they need to successfully grow a portion of their own food ona limited budget. It is a combined effort of the Oregon Food Bank (OFB), YCAP and the Oregon State University Extension Service.

Program Overview

  • Covers basics of low-cost vegetablegardening
  • Available in English or Spanish
  • 12 hour course divided into sessions Open to adults and teenagers
  • Offered for free at host sites that serve the community
  • Taught by trained volunteer Master Gardener Educators
  • Free vegetable gardening course

Course topics

Course topics include garden site and soil development, garden planning, planting, container gardening, caring for a growing garden, and harvesting and using garden bounty.

Raised Beds

Upon class completion, students who qualify
may apply for a raised bed or containers for
home use (through the Yamhill County Master
Gardener Association) or have a raised bed in a
local Community Garden.

Location and Dates

Seed to Supper classes are held at multiple locations throughout Yamhill County, including  Sheridan/Willamina, McMinnville, Newberg, Dayton, and Yamhill/Carlton. Location and class times are scheduled in the spring (March – May) and fall (August – October) based on interest and host availability for the classes.
