
Garden to Table – 2021
Beginning Vegetable Gardening Course
The 2021 Garden to Table program is a comprehensive 6-week beginning gardening course that gives beginning gardeners the tools needed to successfully grow a portion of their own food on a limited budget. It is a combined effort of the Yamhill County Master Gardener Association, Yamhill Community Action Program (YCAP) and the Oregon State University Extension Service.
Program Overview
- Covers basics of low-cost vegetable gardening
- 9 hour course divided into 6 weekly online sessions.
- Offered for free via Zoom. Access to the internet is required.
- Open to adults and teenagers
- Taught by trained volunteer Master Gardener Educators
- A course booklet will be provided

Priority for lower income participants.
- Master Gardener mentors will provide additional support for class attendees during the classes and throughout the gardening season.
Course topics
- Garden site planning, soils, compost, & fertilizer, planting, watering & garden care, weeds and bugs, harvesting, and storing vegetables.
Raised Beds
Upon class completion, self-declared lower income participants get a raised bed or containers with soil, or a Newberg Community Garden bed, plus seeds and plant starts.
Registration
Registration for the April-May Garden to Table class is closed. You may complete the registration to be placed on a waiting list for the next Garden to Table class. Dates and times to be determined.
