Have you ever wanted to grow your own vegetables, but just don’t know where to get started?
The Yamhill County Master Gardeners Association can help! Garden to Table is a free course on the basics of planning, planting and harvesting a vegetable garden. Class topics include garden site planning, soils, compost & fertilizer, planting, watering and garden care, weeds and bugs, harvesting and storing vegetables.
Garden to Table covers the basics of vegetable gardening in 9 hours over 6 weeks (1.5 hour classes) through hybrid in-person and online classes and demos in community gardens.
Master Gardener Educators teach this class for adults and teenagers in person in McMinnville, Newberg and Willamina and also welcome Zoom participants. Master Gardener Mentors will support the students during the class and through the gardening season.
All students will receive a course booklet and create a garden map with a plant list. Upon class completion, lower income participants qualify for a raised bed or containers with soil for the home garden or a Community Garden bed (if available), seeds and plant starts. All other participants may purchase raised beds or containers at cost.
For more information, please contact the Yamhill County Extension Service by phone at 503-434-7517 or email the Garden to Table event staff at g2t@ycmga.org .
If you are not low income, you will be placed on a waitlist until 2 weeks before
the class begins when we will open remaining seats to all registrants.
Thank You Friends of the YCMGA!
